VISA Requirements

Please contact your local Brazilian Embassy or Consulate to check both the Visa and Vaccination requirements, because it may vary from one country to another. You can find contact information (most of the countries are listed) at the website http://www.itamaraty.gov.br/servicos-do-itamaraty/

Vaccination

At the Brazilian Embassy or Consulate you can confirm if you need a Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate to enter Brazil . You do not need a Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate to enter Brazil if you are traveling from the United States or Europe directly to some Brazilian States in the south, like São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, etc. Yellow Fever Vaccination is recommended if the applicant intends to visit one of the following regions in Brazil: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Federal District, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, Tocantins.

However, a Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate is required if you visit one of the following countries within 90 days prior to entering Brazil: Angola, Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Colombia, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, French Guyana, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Peru, Sierra Leone, Sudan and Venezuela.

Insurance
Insurance is the responsibility of the participants themselves. The organization does not accept any liability or responsibility for illness/death, or injury to or financial loss by any person attending this symposium, whatever the cause.

Currency
The currency in Brazil is Real.

Credit Cards
Major credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express are widely accepted.

Time
From March to October, Brazil operates on Greenwich Mean Time -3h.

Electrical Current
Most Brazilian localities operate on 127 volts for electrical appliances. The frequency is 50-60 Hertz.

Climate
The climate in São Paulo State in July is cool to mild, with average temperature of 16°C (61 F). Minimum and maximum temperatures usually range between 12° to 25°C. Weather is usually dry, with occasional showers.

Tipping
A small tip is appreciated for good service. A 10% is usual in pubs, bars and restaurants.

Language
The official language of the symposium will be English. There will be no translation.
